Export to Civil 3D
When you are satisfied with your grading results, export them back into Civil 3D. The export places grading geometry directly into your open drawing.
Step 1 — Configure label settings
Decide which labels appear in the exported drawing. You can set this once in Settings so it applies to all future exports, or configure it at the time of each export.
Option A — Set in Settings (applies to all future exports):
- Click Settings
- Click Export Settings
- Turn each label type on or off
Option B — Set at export time (this export only):
- Click Export to CAD
- Click the small dropdown arrow next to the export button
- Turn each label on or off
- Click Export
Available labels:
| Label | Configurable options |
|---|---|
| Retaining Wall | Top of Wall, Bottom of Wall, Wall Type |
| Stem Wall | Top of Wall, Bottom of Wall, Wall Type |
| Slope labels | On or off |
| Elevation labels | On or off |
| Inlet labels | On or off |
Step 2 — Run the export
- Click Export to CAD
- Choose whether to export the full project or a specific lot group or zone
- Confirm your label settings
- Click Export
- Switch to Civil 3D — the grading geometry appears in your drawing automatically
What the export adds to your drawing:
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Grading feature lines | Feature lines for all lots |
| Lot group surfaces | Surfaces bounded to each lot group perimeter |
| Zone surfaces | Graded surfaces for each zone |
| Wall geometry | Retaining and stem wall geometry with labels |
| Slope and elevation labels | As configured in label settings |
| Inlet labels | At drain inlet locations |
Zone surfaces
Zone surface export is a first iteration. If you see anything incorrect with zone geometry inside Civil 3D, please report it to the drtwrk team.
Export not appearing in Civil 3D? Wait 30 seconds, then check your drawing. The export may take a moment to complete.
